Telemon Supports the Work of Czechoslovak Experts Building Cardiology Capabilities in Nairobi
For more than 12 years, teams of leading cardiology specialists from Motol University Hospital in Prague and the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NÚSCH) in Bratislava have been helping to develop professional capacities, standards of healthcare delivery, methodological procedures, and have also been providing consultations on building essential infrastructure at the Mater Misericordiae Hospital in Nairobi.
During the recent mission of this team of specialists, one of the key topics for further development and enrichment of this successful collaboration was the integration of Telemon. This would enable a broader framework for remote cooperation and better preparedness of teams on both sides — before, during, and after the regular expert missions.
We also had a unique opportunity to observe the expert team throughout their full day of work in the department, from the morning ward round, through a demanding open-heart surgery on a four-year-old patient, all the way to postoperative care in the ICU. Their professionalism, precision, and dedication to their patients are truly remarkable.
Telemon may soon help build another “bridge of cooperation” between the Czechoslovak experts and the continuously improving, ambitious partners in Nairobi.

MUDr. Zuzana Rennerova, PhD., MB, Head of KDPaF, demonstrates in a new study published in Pediatrics how telemonitoring can help children with cystic fibrosis.
